Matthew Finnigan is his given name, Matty Finn is how he’s known on stage, and his friends call him Finny. A music lover from as far back as he can remember (thanks to his parents and older siblings), Matt has been singing since he was a child. Never having learned to play an instrument, he found his way to karaoke (by mistake) in the early 90’s and quickly became a crowd favorite. He was even showcased on a local morning radio show twice after winning weekly contests. After seeing & hearing an extremely talented local band in the Albany area, Matt decided to take his love of music to another level. In 1995 at the age of 26, Matt purchased his first guitar. One free lesson from the music store came with his purchase and he then took a handful of lessons from the 2 guitarists in that local band. Self-taught from that time on, Matt was able to showcase his talent by jumping on stage with a few different bands and solo acts from time to time. Finally, in May of 1997 he was able to book his first public solo acoustic show in Albany. He remembers the incredible support at that first show with about 60 people in a venue that normally carried around half that for a solo acoustic act. “Oh what a night” he remembers, and the rest is history.

Now, after 2 bar/restaurant endeavors, a couple of serious illnesses and some soul searching Matt is back out there on the music scene again and loving every minute of it. He brings you anything and everything from Motown, Elton John, The Beatles & The Grateful Dead to Garth Brooks, Jason Mraz plus some one hit wonders and an original or two. With his forever growing song list which is currently at 600 plus songs, Matt is sure to please any music lover. From the 50’s thru today including Classic Rock, Blues, Country and even some Celtic, Matt brings it all to the stage and leaves nothing behind. As the late, great Frank Jaklitsch always said, “Play every show like it’s your last kid.” And that, he surely does…
